The clubman front end was the curious looking new sporty version from Sir Alec Issigonis designed to replace the Mini Cooper originally.
As the name indicates it came with the 1,275cc A series engine with a single carb generating 59hp and a top speed of 87mph. The original version came with improved front disc brakes which where later increased in size in 1971. 12" Denovo tyres became an option in 1974 and later became standard from 1977.
Aside from the squared longer front, specially designed wheels and interior helped distinguish the 1275 classic GT.
In total 117,949 were built.
