Classic mini dry suspension

There are two main types of suspension that came on the classic minis, what is called dry suspension and the alternative and more expensive, wet. Dry suspension originally came in the form of rubber cones and dampers while the wet was hydrolastic suspension again with rubber cones but worked as a displacer unit with integrated diaphragm and damper valves.

Dry suspension is often thought to be the better handling option whereas the wet is often more comfortable as the fluid balances out across the car which has allowed the dry suspension system to become the more common part are the most developed with coil-over systems now being available to replace the rubber cones.
